The Inter Cities Cup

The Inter Cities Cup is a team contest between Golf Clubs from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The club representing Glasgow is the winner of The Boundary Bell.  To compete in The Boundary Bell requires a club to win either The Donald Cameron League or The Brand Putter League.

The Donald Cameron League is contested annually by 14 clubs on the North side of the River Clyde and the winning club in 2005 was Cawder.

The Brand Putter League is contested annually by 7 clubs on the South side of the River Clyde and the winning club in 2005 was Fereneze.

Cawder played Fereneze in The Boundary Bell in September 2005 at Douglas Park Golf Club with Cawder being victorious. Consequently Cawder will represent Glasgow in The Inter Cities Cup.

The Club representing Edinburgh is the winning club form the Edinburgh Summer Leagues, which begins as a league but finishes as a semi-final and final between the winners of the four leagues.  The winning club in 2005 was Kingsknowe. Consequently Kingsknowe will represent Edinburgh in The Inter Cities Cup.

The inaugural event will be played home and away, with the first leg at Cawder on Sunday 2nd April and the return leg the following Sunday at Kingsknowe.  The teams will consist of 9 players in a matchplay format. No games will go beyond the 18th hole.  The winning club on the day will receive two points, in the event of a draw each club will receive one point.  The same rules will apply for the return leg except that if the overall match is a draw, individual points won over the two matches will be totalled to decide the winning team. If the outcome of the result is still a draw each club will nominate a player from their team to play until a hole is won.
