This will be the last time that the Inter Cities Cup will be held the year after the teams have qualified. The event will in subsequent years be held in October of the year the teams qualified to play in the event.
The first April leg of the 2012 Inter Cities Cup was held at The Bishopbriggs Golf Club on Sunday 1st April, between Bishopbriggs, winners of The Boundary Bell in 2011, and Royal Burgess Golfing Society, winners of The Edinburgh League in 2011. The result was a win for Bishopbriggs by 5.5 points to 3.5

The overall result was a tie at 9 points each, resulting in a play off. John Fraser represented Royal Burgess and Graeme McDougall represented Bishopbriggs.
